Hello!

We’re Neil and Joel from Caskstrength.net

A few years back, when were both working as A&R chaps at rival major record labels, we met at the back of a gig in Camden. After discussing the second-rate indie band that were playing we started chatting about whisky and soon discovered that we shared a mutual love for the water of life.

After a couple of heavy drinking session between our respective flats in South London, we decided to start a blog. Soon after, Caskstrength.net was born. Since its inception at the beginning of 2008, we’ve been lucky enough to try some fantastic whiskies, meet some wonderful people and visit some beautiful places.

There has also been the occasional hangover and depressing credit card bill that comes with a love of whisky.

Anyway, we hope you like the site and our new sister site The Caskstrength Warehouse, where you can find an archive of all our whisky reviews.

Below are some pointers regarding this site as well as some questions that you may want answered. If you have any additional questions then please feel free to email us here.

Q. Who are we?

A. We are Neil (on the left) and Joel (on the right)

Q. Where are we based?

A. We are based in London.

Q. Do you have adverts on your site?

A. Nope, we don’t have adverts on our site.

Q. Where do you get your whisky from?

A. Most of it is bought by ourselves or tasted at tasting sessions or leeched from friends collections. We are also sent samples to review but this in no way sways our opinion of the liquid in the bottle. It just means it’s a whole lot cheaper for us!

Q. Do you do earn any money from whisky?

A. Yes, we do. We occasionally run tastings for distillers and have worked with a variety of Scottish and Japanese distilleries to help educate people about whisky. Hopefully, this “evangelism” for whisky will mean other people fall in love with it in the same way we have. We also write for a range of publications including Whisky Magazine.
